Wine Tastings on Tuesdays in San Francisco!

Jul 14th, 2008 by Nousha | 1

Wine Jar Tuesdays are not boring anymore…
So last Tuesday on my way driving home I notice Wine Jar and since the weather was beautiful and I was looking for an excuse to stay out, I said why NOT. I stopped by to have one drink….
Wow, What an experience! First of all your wine tastings are ONLY $15-$20 on Tuesdays, and as much as you want! Also you will get 20% off of all bottle orders until 6:00 PM everyday AND the customer service is fabulous.
If you don’t know wines, try Wine Jar. They will explain everything for you, it’s like a fun wine crash course. So next time you are hanging out with your friends that ‘think’ know about wine, you’ll actually know more.
I will be taking my girl friends there next Tuesday for wine tasting and happy hour, hope to see you there. Make sure you come and say hi…

Great food and customer service at the same time!

Jul 7th, 2008 by Nousha | 1

Judy's It’s not easy to find delicious food and great customer service at the same time in the big city.
Surprise! You have to try Judy’s Cafe on Chestnut Street. I have passed by this place hundred times but never bothered to wait in line and try the food, what a mistake. I am hooked on their food now….
This last weekend the weather in San Francisco was beautiful so after taking the dog to the beach we finally got a chance to get a sit at Judy’s without any wait. I ordered ‘Potato Ext’, Mmmmmm…. Just thinking about it I want to call them for a delivery order. Everything was so fresh, from the OJ, Salsa and bread. On top of it all, after the meal Mr. Judy :-) Comes out and mingles with us for few minutes. The customer service was wonderful all the way from the the front door customer service gentleman, waitresses and the owner himself. I can’t wait to go back soon and try more dishes, I truly felt like I was home….
Thank you Charles!

Bottled water and cancer!

Jun 19th, 2008 by Nousha | 6

Did you know that bottled water in your car is very dangerous for women!!!!
This is how Sheryl Crow got breast cancer. She was on the Ellen show and said this same exact thing. This has been identified as the most common cause of the high levels in breast cancer, especially in Australia.

water A friend whose mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. The Doctor told her: women should not drink bottled water that has been left in a car. The doctor said that the heat and the plastic of the bottle have certain chemicals that can lead to breast cancer. So please be careful and do not drink bottled water that has been left in a car, and, pass this on to all the women in your life.
This information is the kind we need to know and be aware and just might save us!!!! The heat causes toxins from the plastic to leak into the water and they have found these toxins in breast tissue. Use a stainless steel Canteen or a glass bottle when you can!!!!
I guess the trend of caring a bottled water started few years ago and now we cannot live without it. For example what did we used to do ten years ago without cell phones!!! Well with us not using plastic bottle of waters not only we are preventing cancer, it helps with making less plastic which helps mother earth as well.
So next time before leaving the house, remember to bring along your glass bottle of water ….

STARBUCKS & Global Warming!

Jun 3rd, 2008 by Nousha | 6

“The way I see it #289:
So-called “global warming” is just a secret ploy by wacko tree-huggers to make America energy independent, clean our air and water, improve the fuel efficiency of our vehicles, kick-start 21st – century industrials, and make our cities safer and more livable. Don’t let them get away with it! - - Chip Giller, founder of Grist.org, where environmentally minded people gather online.”
I normally go out of my way to support my local coffee shops especially if they have a good coffee and good customer service. Well, I boycotted Starbucks two years ago for a while after I heard that they support the war and part of the money we pay for our coffees goes toward it. But recently I started getting my coffee from there once in a while since most of my local coffee shops have gone out of business and also I gave Starbucks the benefit of the doubt that everyone makes mistakes once.
Starbucks on Global warmingI guess few people like me actually read ‘the way I see it’ in the back of their cups. Most of the times I find their quotes very interesting and educational, BUT this weekend when I saw this one I got really furious. I was thinking maybe the people at Starbuck are really trying hard to support and cheer for our president’s belief on this matter. But this is San Francisco, they MAY get away with these ideas somewhere else but not here.
Do you think the disclaimer at the bottom of their ‘The Way I see it’: – This is the author’s opinion, not necessarily that of Starbucks. — is enough so they can publish whatever they want!
I am a business owner too, I do believe in our constitution rights. However if I do believe in global warming AND if I am sending out something which has my name and stamp on it, I certainly would not advertise an ignorant comment like this. Granted thousands of people hold this cup which includes our teenagers, do we want to educate them this way. Now that Starbucks is the leader in our coffee industry, should it leave this impression on our teens and make them believe in it and lead our world with it?!!!

Fashion at 61st Cannes Film Festival

May 29th, 2008 by Nousha | 1

Each February, American women watch the Oscar Ceremony, not so much to see who is going to win the Award of the best actress but much more to look at the beautiful and amazing dresses worn by the nominees.
Well, in France every May, French women do the same. We turn on the TV every night, for a week, after school or work, to be updated about the latest news from the Cannes Film Festival.
Yes, we do listen to what the TV host has to say about the competition but, what really matters to us is to see which American or French celebrities are there, what they are doing, where they are partying, with who, and of course….what they are wearing on the red carpet.
The 61st Cannes Film Festival just ended last week-end and did not fail to give us our dose of glamour, beauty and dream.
whole country was excited to see Angelina and Brad, Madonna and Sharon Stone, fell for the smart and sexy Jury President of this year Sean Penn and has been completely seduced by the stunning jury member Natalie Portman.
She was a perfect ambassador for Lanvin. Indeed, she wore its dresses most of the time.
She also definitely set the trend for this summer. In case you still did not know, ruffle and bright color dresses are the right things to wear this season. She wore them almost every night.

But Cannes is not just perfection; it can also be about being wild and wearing crazier outfit.
It seemed that Noemie Lenoir, Eva Herzigova and Linda Evangelista, three famous super models went very…”galactic” on the red carpet….
I am not a fan, but that’s just my opinion, what do you guys think? Michelle Williams also got my attention with her long purple Yves Saint-Laurent one.
By the way, la palme d’or (”Golden Palm”) went to “Entre les murs” (the class) by Laurent Cantet … :)
Your French connection: GAELLE :)
